Talking Affiliate Marketing Strategies

I have recently launched HourDeal.com and currently marketing using Twitter (@hourdeal), as HourDeal.com is automated to "Tweet" new deals, that rotate, each hour, on the hour. I am putting together a sales and marketing plan and looking for input on other affiliate marketing strategies and venues. Suggestions/thoughts/feedback??

Hey - first of all, a big thank-you to posting - as you can see, these boards are new ... I haven't even officially launched the site yet, and still have to get the template designed.

Sounds like a great site - I've no clue how to use an affiliate plan via twitter, as I doubt most people would want to "tweet" affiliate links back to your site, at risk of losing followers. But granted, you can have a great affiliate program setup to drive people to your site.

Let's get started with affiliate programs you can run - what type shopping system are you using?

(PS: hope you'll stick around and help drum up some authentic traffic for this site, would be cool to have you as a founding member. Later on, we'd enforce the rules a bit more, so on a post like yours, we'd modify it to remove your site's name (HourDeal.Com) probably - maybe not ... still thinking that through. I just don't want a site where people only come to post so they have a link back to their store.

Thanks,

Is it just my perception that I'm hearing less about affiliate marketing in recent months?

On the other hand I'm hearing about Twitter so much, mostly on CNN. It seems to be really working to promote individual shows there.

I heard about twitter too. But i guess it may help your business. IMO, i really don't like to bug people about my products hourly over a social site, i guess we have our own preferences though.
