Default Is affiliate marketing still profitable for the affiliate?

In the past, affiliate marketing was booming and we can easily hear and read success stories on promote and sell others' products as an affiliate. The market became so saturated and the products are over promoted through those affiliate links.
Now I rarely hear about affiliate marketing (or it's just me that is living in the cave?). Do you think working as an affiliate is still worth doing?

I think that affiliate marketing is going to tough times and since many people are involved in this field it had only increased the difficulty to be profitable in this field. In my view affiliate marketing are good for people who are skilled and talented for this field.

I'm sure that the times of the affiliate marketing are gone. I don't think that it's worth to spend time to this type of business.

I don't think affiliate marketing is worth getting into for its own sake alone.

I don't believe half of those self-promoting websites that all look the same, with the large, primary colored fonts that seem to scroll down forever with endorsements from people who don't show up with a Google search.

On the other hand, I think being an affiliate could be beneficial if you have a presence in a business already, or if you have an interest in it beyond simply being an affiliate.

Lolz, of course it is. It's like helping each other out no matter what status of the affiliates or vice versa.
