Question Still effective ?

I had been using e-bay for around 2 years now. At first it was a profitable investment in e-bay as it was very good for sellers as well as buyers. However with so much of change in TOS and restriction I think that e-bay had lost its charm and not to mention growing number of other sites competing e-bay. Do you think e-bay is still effective in this current trend.

I think that it may be losing it's popularity.

I haven't spent a great deal of time at eBay in particular, but my impression is that many sites are like a room full of salespeople at a cocktail party, shaking hands and handing out business cards... But a surprisingly few number of them are making impressive sales.

And of course there are the exceptions to that.

I think it has lost it's appeal, twice I have been scammed, I have friends and family who have been scammed, there are no security measures to protect us. I would prefer to go to a reputable online company and get what I pay for.

This is a pretty basic question, but is eBay a site strictly for users to sell their items as opposed to eBay offering products from the site?

I'd expect there to be more problems from individuals offering things for sale online than from a company marketing things with a website.

Hopefully, that makes sense.

I have been selling on Ebay for 10 years (part time). The frustrating part is that fees have gone up dramatically over that time. In some catagories it is 15% if you list it as buy-it-now. Paypal takes a cut also. It's getting pretty hard to make a profit.

That happens when a company is too greedy, wait until their competitors take over their clients and plummet with the economy. Seriously, i just hate companies that have high cuts and want to make a quick buck over our products. I just want a just compensation but not 15% for cripes' sake.

When a company becomes large and self-conceited at the same time, it is going to have problems for the users. They think they can boss you around, because they are the biggest company in the industry.

I am not an E-bay seller, but I have heard recently too much about complaints of ebay.

I used to sell on eBay all the time. I did pretty well. Now when I sell it's hit and miss since most of the time, fifty other people are selling the same thing. I think the fees are a lot, it used to be fun, now it's a pain since hardly anything sells anymore.

Amazon is taking a lot of their business. From a buyers perspective, Amazon is the better deal, as they stand by their A-Z policy and they are strict with their sellers. I sell on Ebay, but most of my sales are on Amazon. however my high dollar collectible books move on Ebay, although Amazon has now approved me to sell collectibles, so if they start moving there, i may be done with Ebay altogether.

Its really hard to please everybody. I know even though e-bay lost its appeal to others, there are still enjoying its services...

Anyway we all have the power to choose...
