Default Attracting your niche

I always wonder how many people actually consider their audience when creating a marketing plan and designing a website.

I have see pages that were supposed to attract women that were obviously dreamed up by a guy, and people wracking their brains to increase their Google PR when their target market will look for desired items elsewhere.

Surely there have to be some formulas that tell folks what percentage of their time should be spent locating their niche market, along with a general guide on how to design a website to attract it.

Has anyone found either of these two bits of information anywhere?

I can't say I've seen a source address those two areas so directly.

I guess most of us online have read a lot about SEO and page rank. Then there are the cases like the young boy who started a page giving soccer scores and went on to sell it for a lot of money.

I don't think he was thinking SEO and PR when he developed the site - I think he just had a love for soccer and coincidentally, so did a lot of others.

This is a good question!

I think you have to have a passion for what you want to do, which is similar to Ricardo's idea. If you have a passion, you can achieve so many things. That's why you sometimes heard kids do amazing things without their any one's guidance.

By the way, I know a man who built a successful site about moms and babies. I think it is strange how he knows about all maternal things without a kid himself, but I admire his ability in doing this.

This is a great example of how niche marketing works. You don't try to attract everyone, only those who are most likely to appreciate what your website offers.

Agreed! But one question is always in my mind, that is, how I attract those target audience without knowing who is browsing my website. Everyone wants to do business, but not everyone is able to draw the attention from prospects.

For this purpose in mind, I guess what should be done is to aim at a general audience first! at this time, as you have put it, you cant still identify your targeted market as yet. From here, you may just be able to attract those who are equally aiming at where they can get their needs. And thats the time to focus and concentrate. That way, you would surely be able to gie whats needed by them.
