Default Newsletters

I was wondering how many people here used newsletters, and if so do you use the HTML based format?

I guess it would depend on whether your target demographic typically had online access to take advantage of the HTML graphics?

Not yet. But newsletter surely an effective marketing strategy. I just wonder about the HTML graphics. I think it is saver to use text-based email, which ensure that everybody will be able to read it. Many web mail user (including me) chose to disable the feature which allow us to see the graphics.

I think that newsletters are a fantastic tool for keeping in touch with potential clients, and like st_hart I also much prefer the text based newsletters. I think that the message is clearer and the majority of email software doesn't automatically open the graphics up anyway.

Which do you prefer to receive? I know that I am more likely to read a taxt based newsletter as I will skim a html one judging it on graphics as to wether I will read it or not.

Simple and clean imo is the way to go.

We use MailChimp to do our newsletter - haven't really used it to it's potential, but it's a great service, and highly recommend it.

Hi all

Email marketing is a really cost effective way to market your business.

I am currently writing a 'beginners guide to email marketing' if anyone is interested in getting a copy.

I would recommend send both plain text and html emails. This is standard practice, if you're subscriber is not set up to get html they will ge the text version, it's known as a multipart message.

I tend to recommend keeping graphics fairly light and never send your message as one big image (or several images) as many email clients turn images off as default.

If anyone wants anymore info please feel free to give me a shout.

Phil
