Default Audio Ads?

Hopefully this is in the right area - Does anybody remember those audio ads that were supposedly being put into place about a year ago?

The idea was that a five second audio ad would play as your site loaded and you'd make money per incident.

I think that's a controversial idea because many people don't like automatic audio playing, particularly if they're surfing at work.

I think that company offering the ads has come and gone.

I agree with that. As a visitor, I found audio ads is more annoying than entertaining. It's also make the web pages loading slower. We will hate it especially if we have a limited monthly bandwidth.

There have been very few times when I thought that it was appropriate.

I don't mind audio playing at a musical artist's site. I think a better option may be to offer a jukebox at the site.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that company. I think they were supposed to launch in Feb 08. Audio ads would be too annoying. People would just turn the sound down or leave your site.

For me, audio advertisement is not that annoying, because I don't usually turn on the sound. I think audio-visual advertisements are more popular now. I see them sometimes on Yahoo. But I don't like the way they made, because the advertisements are sometimes too large to ignore, and I can't have them closed, but have to let the advertisement run and finish.

I'm sure that the Audio Ads is one of the most annoying things in the Internet. I like to surf. And sometimes I'm surfing and doing some works simultaneously and this type of Ads disturbs me very much.

I think that the theory behind the company was that there would be tolerance of short audio ads of around 5 seconds.

I kind of thought that may be the case, considering how many ads there are on radio and TV... And at movie theatres.
