A year or two ago, there were some automatic audio ads that played as some sites opened, and I think a lot of people didn't like that - Especially if they were casually surfing at their workplace.

I think automatic audio may be appropriate for some entertainment sites.

In my opinion those kind of ads are horrible! Nothing will make me leave a site faster than having a "commercial" blasting at me. Not only can it disturb a workplace, but many people surf at night when their loved ones are asleep.

Personally I keep my speakers turned off because I got so tired of those type of ads.

When I visit a website, I don't expect anything automated, anything I cannot control like the audio ads, even YouTube loaded automatically - especially because I have limited monthly bandwidth for my internet connection LOL.

I've experienced automatic music at a singer's site, and that seemed alright to me. Better still, there was a jukebox there and you could choose what you wanted to hear.

That was the official Burton Cummings site. He was the singer/songwriter in The Guess Who.
